Another day in London for work. I wonder if the people working at National Office appreciate the views of Westminster right on their doorstep.

When I lived in a mansion flat next door to the cathedral I used to love going in to watch sung eucharist - one of the best pieces of theatre in London. I also remember going to hear your Aunty Avril singing Verdi's Requiem there when it was the Queen Mother's first visit to a Roman Catholic church. I've always preferred it to Westminster Abbey.
It's quite difficult acoustically to sing in the cathedral because of all the marble. If any part of the choir gets out of kilter with any other part of the choir, it is almost impossible to work out how to bring it back in line, because there is a kind of delayed echo effect. Still the experience was unforgettable.
